The idea of a woman wanting to be educated or studying academic subjects was a controversial debate. Women didn't need to learn; they just needed to behave. But times are changing. Blue Stockings follows the journey of some of the first female students at Girton College, Cambridge University as the hurdles of life, love, family expectations and fierce opposition are placed in their way in their determination to graduate.
