Information

The concert opens with Vaughan Williams’ beautiful setting of Shakespeare’s words,Serenade to Music, sung by the hundred-strong choir, partnered by the excellent Mowbray Orchestra.

This is followed by one of the most popular works for piano and orchestra – Rachmaninov’sVariations on a theme of Paganini– played by Alison Gill.

After the interval, CPC’s young choirs join the performers for John Rutter’sMass of the Children.  One of CPC’s favourite soprano soloists, Emma Morwood, stars in this piece, together with her choice of baritone, Arthur Bruce, a Scottish Opera Emerging Artist.  The whole work, which includes settings of poetry as well as words of the traditional Latin mass, takes the form of musical journey from morning to night.
